Meet the Dirty Dog Doormat

A doormat built for paws, not boots. DGS introduced this advanced microfiber blend to the pet industry, and it has been widely copied since. The blend is what makes it work.

How It Works

Most other dog mats are made from polyester alone. Polyester is strong and dries fast, but it naturally resists water. Wet paws pass right over it, and the water stays on the paws.

The Dirty Dog Doormat adds polyamide, and that's the difference.

Polyamide is a microfiber that attracts water instead of pushing it away. It holds roughly ten times more mess than polyester. In the blend, each fiber has a job: polyester gives the mat structure and quick drying, while polyamide pulls water and mud deep into the fiber and holds it there.

Polyamide is also tougher and more resilient than polyester. The strands spring back after every step and every wash instead of matting down, which is why the mat stays soft and absorbent for years.

Together, thick, soft strands open around each paw, pull water and dirt down, and hold it below the surface.

The difference is measurable. Fiber density is rated in GSM, grams per square meter. Dirty Dog Doormats are made at 3000 GSM; typical mats sit between 800 and 1200. More fiber means more places for water and mud to go, other than your floor.

Underneath, a non-slip backing keeps the mat flat and in place, even when your dog comes in at a full sprint.

How to Use and Care

1. Place it wherever wet paws come in: the front door, mudroom, garage or car.
2. Let your dog walk across it; the fibers do the wiping.
3. Shake it out or vacuum dry dirt between washes.
4. Machine wash separately in cold water with a normal amount of detergent. Skip bleach and fabric softener; softener coats the fibers and blocks absorbency. Run the spin cycle twice if you can, then hang to dry.

Washing a Large or Runner? Add a few old towels to balance the load.
