Meet the Dirty Dog Shammy

A drying towel made from the same advanced microfiber blend as the Dirty Dog Doormat. It has one job: getting a wet dog dry fast, without the towel turning sour.

How It Works

Cotton towels soak up water slowly and hold it at the surface. Once they're damp, they mostly move water around.

Most microfiber dog towels are polyester alone. Polyester is light and dries fast, but on its own it resists water, so it smears more than it soaks.

The Shammy adds polyamide. Polyamide is a microfiber that attracts water, and it holds roughly ten times more mess than polyester. In the blend, polyester gives the Shammy strength and fast drying, while polyamide does the absorbing, pulling water out of the coat and into the towel.

Polyamide is also softer and more resilient than polyester, so the Shammy stays plush against your dog's skin and keeps its absorbency wash after wash.

It's made at 1500 GSM, a measure of fiber density; most towels sit between 600 and 1200. More fiber means more capacity, so it soaks up to 20X more water and mud than a standard towel.

The fibers also carry built-in EPA-registered antimicrobial protection. It's part of the material, not a spray, so it keeps working wash after wash to inhibit the odor-causing bacteria, mold and mildew that make a damp towel smell.

How to Use and Care

1. After a bath, swim or rainy walk, slip your hands into the pockets.
2. Press and rub through the coat, then finish with the paws.
3. Shake it out and hang it to dry between uses.
4. Machine wash as needed. Skip the fabric softener; it coats microfiber and reduces absorbency. The antimicrobial protection is built into the fibers and keeps working wash after wash.
